The beautiful presentation of the Veg Thali, praised by Jiri Basumatary, further enhances the dining experience, offering not only taste but a visual feast as well. The use of kansa, a traditional metal alloy for serving, adds a unique, cultural touch that elevates the overall ambiance.

The menu was full of Assamese delicacies and I tried the Veg thali, that was cooked to perfection. The spices used were flavorful, while the overall flavor was light and delicate. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful and the flavors were balanced and harmonious. The service was fast and efficient, and the atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Assamese experience.

An excellent place for the authentic Assam Thali meals. Succulent preparations of Chicken, lamb, fish, duck & pork says everything about Chef Atul Lahkar's culinary artistry. A must visit for the blue blooded gourmet.

Authentic Assamese cuisines can be enjoyed at this beautiful food joint. There is a wide variety of veg and non veg items. The service needs to be improved a little bit. The waiting time for the food is long which needs to be improved. The taste of all the items are superb the mutton was tender and well cooked. The food is served in kansa (traditional metal alloy) which makes it more unique and enhances the old serving tradition.

Chef Atul Lankars Kharika was in my bucket list since many years and I must say I was not disappointed when it comes to taste. The food was simple and tasty not overpowered with spices. Tried their signature Chicken Khorika, Duck Masala, Aar Fish curry made with mustard. Khorika had the rustic flavor and the coriander chutney was bang on. Duck Masala made with sesame was must try. Now the best part Fish.. its been ages i have tasted such a flavourful Aar Fish..super yummy... The dal, Alu pitika and accompanies were simple and basic just like an Assamese home would offer but it was soothing to taste bud. My kids loved the pitika so much. KHAAR was a palate cleanser for us simple yet good. Only disappointment they were not able to provide Chitol and Hilsa...

'Heritage Khorika' is a traditional Assamese restaurant in Guwahati that I have been frequenting since 2017. Well designed, quiet, and sophisticated – this eatery by Chef Atul Lahkar is an absolute foodie's delight. I have never been unhappy eating at this place. Therefore when my partner and I went for our lunch to this place today (Sunday – September 14, 2025) after a long flight from Bengaluru to Guwahati, our expectations were also high. Guess what! We were not disappointed. We loved the served food! While both of us went for the Non-Vegetarian Akhaj (Non-Vegetarian Thali), my partner opted for the Pork variety and I went for the Chicken one. Everything was tasty. Also, what was infinitesimally more important was the spice level in the food. Although extremely tasty, none of the items had high spices. We are going to visit this place again!

Chef Atul Lahkar's Heritage Khorika has been one of the prominent places in Guwahati for ethnic Assamese cuisine. Chef Lahkar started the ethnic food popularisation in Assam by first setting up Khorika in 2007 and then the Heritage Khorika in 2014. Today the city is bursting with ethnic food restaurants, but both the Khorika's still stand tall. Things have changed a bit now since there is much more competition, and if they do not work hard, their reputation can only support them for some time. The positives: The quality of the food is still quite good, with the diversity of items ranging from different kinds of fish (including small fish, which not many restaurants offer) to duck and pork. The signature khorika (barbequed) sticks are still good. I tasted the pork khorika and is was well done with adequate number of good pieces. The food is also fresh and hygienic. The negatives: The prices are on the higher side, with a vegetarian thali (no non-veg thalis are available anymore) priced at 210. This price would still be okay if they did not have such a limited number of items and with no second servings unless you insist. For those who cannot do with onions, you're out of luck since only lemon and green chillis are served with the thali. The service is slow and the staff do not understand the concept of giving the thali first and the other orders subsequently if it takes more time. They will wait for all your orders to be ready before serving, so better be prepared for a long-ish wait. The ambience can be much better since currently it is very dimly lit and looks like a night diner even on a sunny day with very little sunlight allowed inside. Overall, this is still a good place for Assamese ethnic food if you are in the vicinity, but if you want quicker and cheaper food, this is not your place.
